The Passage
Brussels Film Festival, Montreal World Film Festival, Septiembre Festival, Jerez and Raindance Film Festival, London
Ana, a terminally ill Hispanic woman in her 60s, embarks on a trip to West Texas to visit a Mexican healer whom she hopes can cure her of her cancer. She is travelling with two people she has met by chance: a man who has just been released from prison and is in desperate need of money, and an British artist (played by Alan) who is hitchhiking through Texas. Though the healer determines that there is nothing to be done with Ana's illness, she decides to continue her journey to fulfill her desire to see the mountains of West Texas. Along the way she experiences new places and people. Her life is ebbing and she needs to get as much out of it while she can...
Shot in a raw documentary style, the film features mostly real people and provides a glimpse of a certain slice of society in the American South, with all its glories and contradictions.
